Maserati had its beginnings in an Italian railroad worker’s dream. Rodolfo Maserati passed on to his children his love of automobiles and precision engineering, and in 1914, three of the Maserati brothers opened the Società Anonima Officine Alfieri Maserati in Bologna. They launched their first model, the Tipo 26, in 1926, and their cars began breaking speed records. In 1937, Adolfo Orsi purchased the business and later moved it to Modena. Maserati’s soon began winning Indy 500 races in the United States.

In 1947, the brand debuted its first non-racing car, the A6 1500, and it quickly gained worldwide popularity. With the first Quattroporte, debuting in 1963, Maserati entered the full-size luxury sedan market. Today, Maserati continues to engineer high performance vehicles that blend the best of racing performance, luxury, and the pure pleasure of driving.
