When Maserati first announced the Ghibli would be going on sale late last year, many automotive insiders were skeptical of the company’s tactics and nobody was sure how the market would react. Now we are getting a very clear picture of the impact this new middle-market model is having and it appears to be shooting Maserati into a great new direction.
Recent reports show that during the month of May, Maserati sold a total of 1,144 cars in the U.S. that is five times more than were sold during May of 2013. Last year the company sold a total of 15,400 models but the CEO of Fiat Chrysler, Sergio Marchionne has already stated that he wants to see the brand sell 7 million vehicles a year by 2018. So clearly we have a long ways to go.
