There is no doubt that the Geneva Motor Show is one of the world’s biggest and most glamorous automotive events. It is no wonder then that it was chosen by Maserati as the perfect venue to unveil the all-new Alfieri Concept. Last week, Maserati officials confirmed that a new concept car would make its debut at the event, but we never expected to see anything like this.
The Maserati Alfieri Concept is a two-door sports coupe that could pave the way for more sporty and performance-based vehicles down the line. The Maserati GranTurismo has been the only two-door model the company has had on the market for the past seven years. Now in celebration of the company’s 100th anniversary, the Alfieri is here to begin a new chapter.
From the outside, it is clear that the designers of this concept wanted to deliver something original and modern, but they were still able to retain many elements that clearly make the Alfieri a Maserati vehicle. Long sweeping lines accentuate the carved front hood, and aggressive futuristic headlamps give the appearance that the car is in motion even while standing still.
This two door prototype is fully operational and is powered by the same 4.7-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine that can be found in the current GranTurismo. Company insiders have noted that while they don’t expect this version of the performance coupe to hit the production lines in two years, something similar definitely will.
